Pandemonium in the Purgatorium
On the outskirts of Patagonia, somewhere near Vulgaria
A Jihad art martyr type strapped with concealed pluTONYum
With a motive that is ulterior
says a prayer, pulls a chord, and then
Splatters into perfect squares of colors that don’t match onto the walls of
The gallery of the undiscovered country
Listening to the poeme reader in the corner
I am pretending to be doing my nails when a hillbilly art critic walks in
Freezes in confusion and fear demanding to speak to the owner
I explain the owner is not here, (the owner is never here)
I confess I am just the curator
Looking down to avoid eye contact I ask slyly I mean shyly
Can I help?
Already knowing the answer…
Before you know it - Pandemonium in the Purgatorium
In the chaos
Someone has called the police instead of the Pope
I am trying to pay attention but I stray
Attempting to doodle a bad portrait of Tess of the d’Urbervilles holding the picture of Dorian Gray
They ask me to please cooperate, plead for a written statement
Of what I witnessed...
Which I am preparing
But my focus is gone – sadly –
I can only communicate now in images and poetry
I know it is useless to explain
And they lead me away
In handcuffs of the mind.
